Do I need to do anything prior to or after my appointment?

It is essential that you refrain from sunbed use, consuming alcohol, caffeine and any blood thinning medication (unless prescribed) at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. You will also need to refrain from spicy and citrus foods for 5 days following treatment.

You will not be able to get the area wet, go in direct sunlight or apply creams, makeup or moisturisers to the area for 7 days. If you suffer from cold sores, then it is advisable to consult your GP and take anti-viral medication prior to treatment.

Do I need a consultation first?

It is advisable to come for a consultation prior to your appointment where we can check over your medical health and discuss the options which are most suited to you. You will also need to have a patch test done at least 24 hours before your appointment and this can be done at your consultation. We offer a 15 minute consultation free of charge.

What is the process?

Your first treatment takes approximately 2 hours to complete. Lips are fast at healing as they have a great blood supply so although the initial few days your lips may form light scabs, by day 5 they should be healed, the colour will then develop over the next few weeks. Between week 8 and 12 you will return for a retouch appointment which is necessary to perfect the area and ensure they last.

As you need to attend 2 appointments it is wise to schedule your appointments when you don’t have any important occasions coming up to ensure you have time to heal.

Will it look like lipstick?

The colour is buildable so it is possible for us to create a full lipstick effect or a soft lip blush without any harsh lip line. It can be as natural or bold as you like.
